Despite last year’s fee hike for the Blue Cave on Biševo Island, whose primary goal was to reduce the number of visitors, the frenzy for this protected natural monument is not slowing down, Dalmacija Danas reported on July 8, 2017.

The rising trend continues this year. Last year over 100 thousand visitors were logged, over 20 percent more compared to the previous year.

Judging by photographs sent by visitors, crowds are enormous, and tourists wait for several hours to see this pearl of the Adriatic. As the cave can only be entered with boats operated by the Nautical Centre Komiža, the waiting line in the hot sun can be a killer.

Visitors mostly arrive from Komiža on Vis Island, but also with private boats and excursion boats from Hvar Island and Split.
