Bathing Water Quality in Croatia Published for 2017
The latest assessment of bathing water quality in Croatia for 2017 has been recently published, and according to the research, none of the beaches in Croatia obtained a poor rating.
Assessments are determined on the basis of criteria defined by Regulation on Sea bathing water quality (OG 73/08) and the EU Directive on management of bathing water quality No 2006/7/EC.

The sea bathing water quality at the beaches in Croatia was reviewed by selecting an individual sampling point. According to the latest assessment, out of 953 beaches in Croatia, 928 have excellent bathing water quality, 15 were rated good and 10 have obtained a sufficient rating. None of the beaches in Croatia have poor water quality.

Istria
In Istria, as in rest of the country, the overwhelming majority of the beaches have excellent bathing water quality. Out of 204 beaches tested, only 3 were rated good and 2 got a satisfactory rating – beaches AC Kanegra – Bullea and AC Kanegra – Market, located in the small settlement of Kanegra, part of Buje town, near the Slovenian sea border.
Primorje-Gorski Kotar County
The area of Kvarner Bay, including islands of Krk, Rab, Cres and Lošinj, have great bathing water quality. Out of 258 beaches, only three were rated good, while the rest earned excellent rating.
Zadar County
The total of 92 beaches were tested in the Zadar county with only 1 rated with a satisfactory (sufficient) rating – Bošana beach in Biograd na Moru.
Šibenik-Knin County
Out of 99 tested beaches in Šibenik-Knin County, 3 were rated good, 3 obtained a sufficient rating, and the rest have excellent quality of bathing water. Out of 6 beaches that obtained a lower rating, 4 are located in Vodice, and the other two beaches rated sufficient are located in Pirovac (Hotel Miran) and in Jadrija (cabins on the left).
Split-Dalmatia County
Out of 157 beaches in this area, 150 of them are rated excellent, 3 good and 4 satisfactory. The three beaches that have ‘only’ good water quality are Maslinica on the island of Šolta, Bajnica in Dugi Rat and Autocamp(west part) in Omiš. Beaches Rogač on Šolta, Đardin in Kaštel Stari, Torac in Kaštel Gomilica and Nemira in Omiš and have received a satisfactory rating.
Dubrovnik-Neretva County
The sea in Dubrovnik-Neretva county is of excellent quality. Out of 113 beaches tested in this area, 110 have excellent bathing water quality, and 3 were rated good – Portina in Ploče, Kobaš in Ston on Pelješac and Mlini in Župa.
