Good morning from Biograd!
Good morning, fellow sailors!
Today we are in the former capital of the medieval Croatian Kingdom – Biograd na Moru, or simply Biograd. The town is a popular tourist resort and nautical centre in Dalmatia, located between the historic towns of Zadar and Šibenik. The town’s name in Croatian fully translates as “the white town on the sea”.
Biograd na Moru is an attractive holiday destination due to its central location in the Adriatic, close vicinity to national parks Kornati and Krka and nature parks Vransko Lake and Telašćica, a decades-long tradition in tourism, rich cultural heritage and numerous cultural and sporting events.
The town has two large marinas, Marina Šangulin and Marina Kornati, which are a great base for exploring the numerous islands nearby, including Kornati Islands. Marina Kornati is one of the largest and best-equipped marinas in North Dalmatia. Also, the largest exhibition of boats in Croatia and region – Biograd Boat Show – takes place here.
If you aren’t already in Biograd, come by and check out the last day of Gastro Table 2017 Festival, where you can try traditional Croatian delicacies and eco products, buy authentic Croatian souvenirs and learn more about the rich Dalmatian folklore and customs. The festival will be closed with a performance by a famous local band, Marijan Ban i Diktatori, at 9 p.m.
